CHICAGO – Hundreds of runners gathered in Chicago on Sunday for the 41st edition of the colorful Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K race, after a pandemic hiatus.
This year runners enjoyed a new 5-mile route along the Chicago River providing a view of the city and its architecture.
The run began in Grant Park, passed by the newly constructed Bank of America tower and wound its way down Washington Boulevard as family and friends cheered the runners with banners.
These were the winners of this year’s race:
Male category:
Tai Dinger was the first to finish the race with a time of 22:56. He edged out Zach Panning by 0.81 seconds.
“It was tough, there was really good competition,” Dinger said after the race. “I knew this race was always hard to win, so I went out there to win and I did it.”
Female category:
Natosha Rogers had a time of 25:30 to lead the women’s race. Amy Davis followed in second place just under a minute later.
Rogers, a native of Denver, said the race marked her second appearance in Chicago.
Wheelchair race:
- Samantha Schroth, a Wisconsin native living in Chicago, came in with an unofficial time of 27:24.
- Michael Panther Mayen with a preliminary time of 45:01.
Telemundo Chicago will have live footage from the finish line of the race where you can watch your friends and family cross the finish line.
