Mexico City – The open television channels of Televisa and TV Azteca were the most watched by Mexican households during 2019, according to the 2019 National Survey of Audiovisual Content Consumption.
In Mexico, 95% of homes have a television and of these, 77% watch open television channels.
The most viewed free-to-air television channels are Las Estrellas with 52%, Channel 5 with 44%, Azteca Uno with 42%, Azteca 7 with 39%, Imagen Televisión with 10%, Canal Nueve with 10%, adn40 with 9%, Foro TV with 8% as well as Channel Once and Multimedios with 7% each.
The survey carried out by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) found that, once again, open television channels are the most viewed in households that have pay television service.
Well, of the 95% of households with television, 45% have restricted television or pay-TV.
Therefore, Las Estrellas is the most watched channel in the restricted television system with 53% followed by Azteca Uno with 45%, Channel 5 with 44% and Channel 7 with 40%.
While the exclusive pay television channels that Mexicans watch most frequently are Fox Channel with 33%, Discovery Channel with 23%, Cartoon Network with 22%, Fox Sports with 11% and ESPN with 11%.
