TRIBUNJABAR.ID – Cholesterol is a wax made by the liver to protect nerves and make certain tissue and hormone cells.
The body will get cholesterol from food intake consumed.
This includes eggs, meat and milk.
However, too much cholesterol can be bad for health.
What is the difference between “good” cholesterol and “bad” cholesterol?
Good cholesterol is known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It removes cholesterol from the bloodstream. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is a “bad” cholesterol.
If the total cholesterol level of Moms is high because of high LDL levels, Moms may be at higher risk of heart disease or stroke.
However, if the total cholesterol level of Moms is high only because of high HDL levels, Moms may not be at higher risk.
Triglycerides is another type of fat in the blood of Moms. When Moms eat more calories than Moms can use, it converts extra calories to triglycerides.
Changing the lifestyle of Moms (diet and exercise) can increase Moms cholesterol levels, reduce LDL and triglycerides, and increase HDL.
