The KNVB has today established the rules should a competition not be completed in the future due to force majeure or unforeseen circumstances. The Football Association published those rules on the website. Last season it could not be played due to the corona crisis.
A number of rules have now been drawn up to ensure that there is more clarity in such circumstances. If at the time of stopping the competitions not all teams have played at least half of the games, then all results will be canceled. If half of the matches have been played, that ranking is used to determine the European tickets. A champion is then only declared when that team is already certain of the championship. This also applies to promotion and relegation. The last rule is when 85 percent of all matches have been played, the ranking determines who is the champion, who gets the European tickets and who is promoted or relegated.
