“Ainbo – Guardian of the Amazon”, “Lindemann – Live in Moscow” and “A Black Jesus”: The first new films are starting in the cinemas.

Finally watching films together in the cinema again – at least a little: On Thursday, May 20, the first new films will start in Germany since the cinemas had to close their doors in November. Depending on the incidence and local regulations, cinema operations are currently permitted again in many federal states, but for organizational reasons not all movie theaters open immediately. In some regions, cinema fans have to be patient a little longer …

Ainbo – guardian of the Amazon

The little jungle inhabitant Ainbo is self-confident: “I am the greatest hunter in the whole of Amazonia”, she calls out into the rainforest – only to fall on the nose immediately afterwards. The words are still greater than the young girl’s talent. But soon she has to show what she’s really made of in the animated film “Ainbo – Guardian of the Amazon”. Because the natural paradise in which Ainbo lives with her tribe is threatened: Unscrupulous men want to build illegal mines to usurp the treasures of the forest. Together with her spiritual companions, Ainbo sets out to fight to defend their homeland.

The Peruvian-Dutch-American coproduction “Ainbo” by the two directors José Zelada and Richard Claus sees itself as an appeal for the preservation of nature – implemented in a humorous and child-friendly manner.

Lindemann – Live in Moscow

The distributor praises the show that took place on March 15, 2020 in Moscow as “one of the very last concerts of the old era, the big party before the worldwide shutdown”: Till Lindemann, singer of the German metal band Rammstein, and the Swedish one On that day, multi-instrumentalist and producer Peter Tägtgren took to the stage for their joint project Lindemann in the Russian capital. The concert film “Lindemann – Live in Moscow” documents the appearance of the duo, which has since split up after two albums together. The concert spectacle is also available on Blu-ray and CD.

If you want to experience Till Lindemann live with his band Rammstein, you have to be patient: Due to the pandemic, the planned tour has been postponed to the coming year. Then, the fans hope, Rammstein will finally be able to shake the country’s stadiums again with new songs.

A Black Jesus

Was Jesus Black? In the small Sicilian town of Siculiana, at least the Savior has a dark skin color. For years there has been a crucifix in a church showing a black Son of God. Filmmaker Luca Lucchesi went to Siculiana, which is also his father’s hometown, for his documentary “A Black Jesus”. Here he met 19-year-old Edward. Edward comes from Ghana, but now he lives in a refugee center that is highly controversial in the town. And Edward has a dream: in the great procession that is held every year in Siculiana, he would like to carry the black crucifix through the town. “I want Africans and Europeans to become one,” he says into the camera. “Because Jesus Christ is there for everyone.”

“A Black Jesus” will be shown at various cinema open airs from the end of May. The film, which was produced by Wim Wenders, can also be streamed online from May 20th at filmwelt-digital.de.
