During the month of July 2024Mexico experienced a significant increase in the number of cases and hospitalizations due to Covid-19. In addition, two new highly contagious variants were identified, KP.2 and KP.3, which have raised growing concern among both the population and health authorities.
Thanks to this, the authorities have recommended to the population Wearing face masks again and resuming sanitary measures to prevent infections. Although a regulation for a confinement similar to that of 2020 has not yet been issued, it is important to keep in mind that some places present a higher risk of contagion.
The places with the highest risk of Covid-19 infection
Texas Medical Association has developed a scale that facilitates the identification of places with a higher risk of contagion to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. This scale classifies risk from lowest to highest as follows:
- Low risk: Contact with objects such as ordering food from restaurants, receiving change, being in open public places.
- Moderate – low risk: Shopping at the supermarket, playing golf, going for a walk, running, staying in a hotel, going to a museum, spending an hour in the park, sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office.
- Moderate risk: Attending family gatherings, going to school, working in closed spaces without ventilation
- Moderate – high risk: Going to a beauty salon or hair salon, eating inside a restaurant, attending a party, traveling by plane, traveling on public transportation, hugging or shaking hands with a friend.
-
High risk: Go to a concert, go to a sports stadium, attend a religious service, go to a bar.
The Mexican population is advised to continue with health protocols to avoid contagion. In addition to this, it is recommended to see a doctor if any symptoms appear.
