These are the new features that YouTube Shorts presented: more competition for TikTok

YouTube announced a series of updates to its short video product, YouTube Shorts. These include the ability for creators to upload videos up to three minutes long. The company says it is also updating the player with the introduction of templates and adding a new Shorts trends page on mobile devices.

The company is giving users more control over what they see in their Shorts feed. An option will be introduced to “show fewer Shorts”, as explained by the company. This feature will be available through the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of any of the Shorts tab. Enabling this mode will temporarily display fewer videos on startup and adjust the experience based on user preferences.

Failures on the YouTube platform
