These are the most stolen insured cars in June

The Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) reported that from July 2019 to June 2020, 77 thousand 206 insured units were stolen in the country; equivalent to a 16% reduction with the same previous period.

According to agency data, on average, 211 vehicles were stolen per day in the reference period.

AMIS data shows that 32,651 units were recovered, equivalent to 42% of the total, which shows an improvement of four percentage points compared to the previous period.

AMIS said that while confinement influenced a theft reduction of insured cars is also attributed to coordinated work with public security authorities that have reduced crime.

Places where more cars are stolen

According to the latest National Security Report, issued by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the states that present a higher percentage of crimes of this type are the State of Mexico, Jalisco, Baja California Norte, Guanajuato and the City from Mexico.

Continuing with the data released by the report, from January 2018 to May 12, 2020, the state entity that registered the largest number of crimes of this type was the State of Mexico, where through the “Mexico Platform” they reported 130,899 stolen cars.

In addition, according to AMIS’s 2019 annual report “Theft and Recovery of Insured Vehicles”, the municipalities of the State of Mexico with the most cases of thefts of insured cars are Ecatepec de Morelos, Tlalnepantla de Baz and Naucalpan de Juárez.

According to the report, 5 of the 10 mayors or municipalities with the most car thefts are in Mexico City and the metropolitan area, with Iztapalapa and Gustavo A. Madero being the ones with the highest number of thefts from insured units.

Regarding the percentage of stolen uninsured cars, the report adds that the states with the highest incidence of this type of crime were Zacatecas, Baja California Norte and Sur, as well as Colima and Campeche; In the state of Zacatecas, 9 out of 10 stolen cars were not insured.

According to the National Security Report, Jalisco is the second state entity with the highest number of registered car thefts (46,128) from January 2018 to May 2020 and according to AMIS, the municipalities of this state that have the highest Criminal incidence of this type are Guadalajara and Zapopan, with a percentage of violence of 56.5% and 52%, respectively.

New truck

The Government of Sonora announced that Ford will manufacture the new Bronco Sport truck at the Hermosillo plant.

“Despite the adversities, the entity remains an attractive state for investment and new projects,” said the governor of Sonora, Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, in a statement.

Production of the Sport version of this truck, officially unveiled by Ford, will begin in October and will replace production of the Fusion and MKZ models.

“Sonora has earned its place to be considered in production as important as this, a product of the excellent workforce it has, but also of the labor peace that it has in the entity and the certainty that this generates in investors” , affirmed the governor.
