These are the mayors of Galicia who earn the most and those who do not receive a salary

The Ministry of Finance has made public the salaries of Galician councilors in 2020, a year in which the mayors of Pontevedra and Vigo, Miguel Anxo Fernández Lords (72,566 euros) and Abel Caballero (70.775 euros), receive the highest amounts. For its part, a dozen councilors of small municipalities do not charge for their position, while there are 39 municipalities that do not offer data.

Between the seven cities, after Pontevedra and Vigo, the order from highest to lowest is: Ourense, Gonzalo Pérez Jácome (69,926 euros); A Coruña, Inés Rey (69,218 euros); Lugo, Lara Méndez (68,361 euros); Santiago de Compostela, Xosé Sánchez Bugallo (52,020 euros); and Ferrol, Ángel Mato (40,000 euros).

Beyond the seven cities, there are eleven mayors who receive more than 50,000 eurosIn other words, all of them charge more than the councilor of Ferrol and some more than that of the capital of Galicia. The number of mayors without exclusive dedication is 69 throughout Galicia. However, here there are differences, from the aforementioned dozen that does not charge, through the 40 euros that Ramirás receives to the 27,719 euros that the mayor of Ares, Julio Iglesias Redondo, charges. By provinces, the distribution of mayors without exclusive dedication is: Ourense (31), A Coruña (18), Lugo (15) and Pontevedra (5).

Almost 40 do not offer data
