“Tonight at 02:45, Gijs was the first New Year’s baby born in the ZGV,” the hospital’s message reads on Instagram. We wish Gijs’s parents and all (future) parents good luck and all the best for 2022!
Gijs is a big boy: he weighs 4190 grams.
A little over an hour before Gijs, a baby was also born in the St. Antonius Hospital. Jairo was born at 01.30. Jairo’s aunt reports this to De Telegraaf.

A baby was also born at 00.11 in the Gelreziekenhuis in Zutphen. The grandfather of the child reports this. The name of the baby is not yet known.

Leonie from Appingedam also gave birth to her child in the early hours of 2022: daughter Emily was born at 00:04 am. In conversation with RTL Nieuws, she says: “I was counting on a Christmas baby, but she took a while.”
Three fire arrows
“There were no less than three flares in the air last night!” writes the Spaarne Gasthuis, from Haarlem. Three children were born there in the night from Friday to Saturday. The early birds are named Naoufal, Xavier and Jimi and were born between 1 AM and 3 AM.
