A good photo or video posted at the wrong time can greatly reduce success. We analyzed more than 150 Instagram accounts and 18,560 posts from Swiss brands. This is to see when are the best times and days to post.
The Instagram algorithm measures the engagement of each post. If a photo gets more likes, comments, shares, saves, if a carousel post is crawled more, the engagement rate increases. The same is true if or if a reel will be watched for longer. Then the post will be shown to more followers, but also to non-followers.
Poor content at the right time won’t go viral, but good content at the wrong time can perform very poorly. Therefore, it is important to know the timing. Also, you shouldn’t post when everyone posts, otherwise you’ll get lost in the feed faster.
Marketing: first some basic facts
151 profiles of Swiss companies were analyzed (with particular attention to Switzerland as a target group / market). 18,560 posts in the period from January to September 2022.
– On average, Swiss companies send mail every two days
– The engagement rate was 1.9%.
– On average, the accounts grew 21 percent during this period. Among these there are certainly profiles that have shown negative growth.
– Almost half of the posts were images. Carousels of images follow (28.7%). Followed by videos (13%) and reels (11.7%).
– Videos have the lowest engagement and are also delivered worse than the reels. Videos should be avoided.
Marketing: What are the best days on Instagram?
Half are posted on the weekend compared to the weekend, although users spend a lot of time on Instagram at that time.
Mondays and Sundays have the highest engagement rates.
Marketing: when is the best time to post on Instagram in Switzerland?
Broken down by post office hours, the picture is more differentiated: mornings, especially Saturdays, Wednesdays, Mondays and Thursdays are good (dark) times. Late Monday and Tuesday nights are excellent times to post. On Sunday the commitment across the board is very good.
