Not all airlines are showing their new flight schedules yet. But one thing is already certain: holidaymakers are in for a hot winter. In the cold months, the airlines fly to the Dominican Republic, Cape Verde and Senegal, for example. We reveal the innovations known so far – maybe your goal for the winter is already there?!
New direct flights to Dakar: Tui is investing in Senegal
Holidays between the Sahara, the Atlantic and tropical forests: the Tui travel group is currently investing heavily in Senegal. Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the Executive Committee, officially presented the new plans of the Tui Group at the beginning of the year as part of a delegation trip with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (SPD) to Senegal.
“We want to both strengthen and further develop tourism in Africa and see great potential for holidays here, especially on the west coast,” says the manager.
As a first step, Tui opened the newly built five-star Hotel Riu Baobab on the beach at Pointe Sarène a few days ago. On safari tours in the Bandia nature reserve, tourists should be able to observe giraffes, antelopes, crocodiles, monkeys, rhinos and lions, for example.
Starting in the winter season, the Group will be bringing travelers from Germany to the West African country with its own airline, Tuifly. From November 3rd, two direct flights a week are to start from Düsseldorf Airport to the Senegalese capital Dakar.
Expansion of flight offers to Cape Verde
In order to meet the expected increase in demand from German holidaymakers for a sunny winter, Tui is also planning more flights to Cape Verde. According to a company spokesman, the services from Hanover, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich airports to Sal and Boa Vista are to be “significantly expanded”.
