Eight teams have confirmed themselves through to the quarterfinals America’s Cup 2021. There were no significant surprises, because the top teams all went smoothly.
The 2021 Copa America was participated by 10 South American countries, and was divided into two groups of 5 teams each. The top 4 teams will qualify for the last eight.
In Group A, there is still one matchday left, but 4 slots are complete. The three defeats that Bolivia received made them confirmed to be bottom, because even though they won their last match against Argentina, their final points were only three.
Meanwhile, Uruguay, who is in fourth place, has collected 4 points. The other 4 teams in Group A are now just fighting for a position in the final standings in order to get a light opponent in the knockout phase America’s Cup 2021.
Currently, Argentina is at the top of the standings with 7 points, followed by Paraguay (6 points), Chile (5 points), Uruguay (4 points), and Bolivia (0 points).
Moving on to Group B, the last matchday has been held. Brazil drew 1-1 against Ecuador, and Peru defeated Venezuela 1-0.
This result makes Brazil remain firmly in the final standings with 10 points. Peru rose to second place with 7 points, overtaking Colombia who had completed 4 group stage matches first, and collected 4 points.
The last slot to the quarterfinals was taken by Ecuador who collected 3 points, while Venezuela became the bottom with 2 points.
The last Macthday of Group A will be held on Tuesday (29/6/2021) at 07.00 WIB, bringing together Bolivia vs Argentina and Uruguay vs Paraguay, while Chile have completed 4 group stage matches early. Quarterfinal match America’s Cup 2021 will start on July 3 and 4.
