MEXICO CITY, February 20 (EL UNIVERSAL).- Bruce Willis suffers from frototemporal dementia, a disease for which there is no curable treatment. It was his ex-wife, Demi Moore, who announced the sad news a few days ago. “Although this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” said the actress from her Instagram account.
From there, the ex of Bruce Willis also asked for the support of the media to publicize this disease with the hope that in a few years someone will be interested in investigating it and a cure can be obtained. The actor’s condition occurs in very few people, even among celebrities there is only 1 who died specifically from frototemporal dementia, after years of fighting.
But there are also two more actors who, like Bruce Willis, led a battle against dementia. In both cases these are autodegenerative diseases. The one suffered by the “Die Hard” actor affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, precisely those involved in language and behavior control. It is even one of the most common forms in which dementia presents itself.
Sean Connery
In his last years of life he suffered from dementia. “It was no longer life for him. Lately he was unable to express himself,” revealed his wife after her death. Sean Connery was the one who gave life to agent 007 in the James Bond films between 1962 and 1973. His vast career in Hollywood led him to win an Oscar and three Golden Globes.
Terry Jones
Like Bruce Willis, he suffered the aftermath of being diagnosed with frototemporal dementia. He was one of the most recognized comedians of the British group “Monty Python”. Some time ago he came to open the doors of his house so that the media could see how he lived with this disease in order to make it visible. He passed away 3 years ago at 77.
Robin Williams
“They called me to sit down to go over the coroner’s report. They sat me down and told me that Robin basically died of diffuse Lewy body dementia,” his wife said the day she found him dead. In addition, he suffered from Parkinson’s for 3 months.
