JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The sales performance of four-wheeled motor vehicles on a national scale began to show a positive trend and recovered after being hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020.
This is inseparable from a number of policies released by the government to stimulate people’s purchasing power, for example, the PPnBM-DTP incentives given from March 2021 until the end of the year.
Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) has also released sales data wholesales aka the distribution of cars from manufacturers to dealers throughout 2021.

Last year’s recorded sales wholesales Nationally, the number of cars reached 887,202 units, a far increase from the performance in 2020 which could only record total sales of 532,027 units.

Moreover, both Toyota and Mitsubishi have just launched the latest generation of Avanza, Veloz, and Xpander. It’s no wonder that people’s interest in these cars has gone up considerably.

In more detail, Toyota Avanza and Veloz have successfully recorded sales wholesales as many as 66,109 units. In second place, Mitsubishi Xpander recorded 54,624 units. In third place, the low-cost SUV segment has emerged with the Toyota Rush as many as 52,553 units.
The overall list of best-selling cars is dominated by the Toyota brand. 6 out of 10 cars on the list are products with the Toyota emblem from various segments.
The existence of the Mitsubishi Xpander is also worth considering. Given the sales performance rose far from before. In 2020, this car only sold 26 thousand units. In the following year, that number rose to reach 54 thousand units, more than doubled.
On the other hand, the LSUV segment was forced to give in. The reason is, only Toyota Rush has managed to penetrate the top 10 rankings best selling car 2021. Competitors such as Daihatsu Terios and Suzuki XL7 have to be content with achieving sales of only tens of thousands of units.
