Galicia is full of tourists this Easter 2022, the first in which processions can take to the streets since the start of the pandemic.
The autonomous community has 2 declared holy weeks of international tourist interest (Ferrol and Viveiro), but those of Mondoñedo, Lugo, Betanzos, Cangas, A Coruña, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela or Fisterra also stand out on the processional map.
There are many processions that could be part of the list of the 10 best, but the ones that follow are a representative sample of what Holy Week is in Galicia.
1. Meeting in Viveiro
On Good Friday, the brothers of Viveiro (Lugo) take the articulated figures of Jesus and Mary to the streets of the old town to represent the Encounter.
Holy Week is celebrated in Viveiro from the 13th century under the influence of the Franciscan community that was installed in the area and that began to make representations of the Passion with informative intention.

2. The Caladiños in Ferrol
Holy Week in Ferrol mixes military elements with others typical of the Castilian and Andalusian processions. The Holy Encounter that is celebrated on Friday morning is massive but perhaps the most exciting procession is that of Os Caladiños, which leaves on Good Friday at half past eleven at night from the Cathedral of San Julián.
The Shroud Cross, Saint John the Evangelist and the Virgin of Sorrows procession. The procession takes place in complete silence through the streets of the Magdalena neighborhood.

To facilitate access to the city center for visitors, the Ferrol City Council has organized shuttle buses that take people from the A Malata area free of charge.
3. Desenclavo in Santiago de Compostela
On Good Friday at 5:00 p.m. the streets of Santiago de Compostela Desenclavo procession, organized by the brotherhood of Vera Cruz.
The departure is from the Church of San Francisco, a few meters from the Cathedral and Plaza del Obradoiro.

4. Via Crucis in Betanzos
Good Friday is also worth a stop Way of the Cross which is celebrated in the streets of Betanzos, a city in A Coruña that in its day was one of the capitals of the Ancient Kingdom of Galicia.
It leaves at noon from the church of San Domingos and walks through the cobbled streets of the historic center accompanied by the faithful.
5. The Denial of San Pedro in Cangas
It is celebrated on Good Friday morning and is characterized by the participation of many young people. The image of Saint Peter It is accompanied by drums and by young people from the seaside town.
Holy Week in Cangas is one of the most outstanding in the entire province of Pontevedra.
6. Representation of the Last Supper and the Washing of Feet in Fisterra
In Fisterra they celebrate these days the feast of the Holy Christ and the most characteristic are the representations made by the residents of the town of the scenes of the passion of Christ. The Last Supper and the Washing of Feet stand out.
