These 7 inventions were apparently started by female scientists

Science continues to develop and women show that they can take part in it. Many female researchers create discoveries that are useful for society. Even inventions from fields that many people might not expect, such as automotive and driving safety. Check out seven female researchers and their helpful discoveries so far.

1. Computer programming – Ada Lovelace Byron

Ada Lovelace Byron is the inventor of the programming language. Born in England December 10, 1815. At the age of 17 Lovelace met his mentor Charles Babbage, an inventor who would be known as the father of the computer in the future. Lovelace translated his research engineer’s French text into English Analytical engine. Lovelace tagged his brainchild and tagged his name: AAL

Due to insufficient funds, Babbage’s discovery was not completed, so the note was abandoned. In 1953, those notes were republished in a book about how computers work following patterns. It turned out to be a note from Lovelace’s thoughts. That’s why Lovelace is recognized as the inventor of the programming language.

2. Wiper mobile – Mary Anderson

How do you feel if you bring a car when it rains and snows without windscreen wiper machine? In the past, cars did not have windscreen wiper so that people have to get out of the car to clean the windows to see the road. Imagine how many problems, right? This inspired Mary Anderson to find a solution.

He designed and patented inventions windscreen wiper. At first windscreen wiper Not as sophisticated as it is today, the initial design was just a wood and rubber arm that would clear snow or rain from windows with the pull of a lever. In the past, his invention has been ridiculed by others as creepy and impractical. But look now which car is not being used windscreen wiper?

3. Direction indicator – Florence Lawrence

Who would have thought that the turn signal was invented by a Canadian film actress named Florence Lawrence. In addition to working as an artist, Lawrence was also an automobile enthusiast. In 1915, Lawrence presented her invention to the general public.

Lawrence gave his invention the name automatic signaling arm. This object is located behind the fender, it can be raised and lowered with an electric button to signal the direction of the car’s turn. As technology progresses, the signal arm turns into a turn signal as we see a lot.

Without a special coating, glass is hard to see due to the glare caused by the light. Katherine Burr Blodgett, a researcher with a PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge, was the first to pay attention to this.

He worked as a researcher at General Electric. Katherine has devised a method for building a thin layer of film over glass. This is what can eliminate the glare effect on glass when exposed to light. In 1938 she received a patent for her invention.

5. Home Security System – Marie Van Brittan Brown

Marie Van Brittan Brown was an American nurse and innovator. Initially, Marie and her husband had problems with unequal working hours. As a nurse, Brown worked long hours and came home late at night. Her husband also has irregular working hours, so she is often alone at night.

Afraid of being vulnerable in a high-crime neighborhood, Brown set out to find a way to see who was at her door if she heard a knock.

In 1966 Brown, with the help of her husband, invented a security system consisting of four peepholes, a sliding camera, a television monitor and a two-way microphone. This was the beginning of the creation of a closed circuit television system for surveillance, also known as CCTV. In 1969, Brown and her husband received a patent for this very useful invention.

6. Model DNA – Rosalind Franklin

DNA stands for deoxyribonucleide acid. British physical chemist Rosalind Franklin, PhD at the University of Cambridge. Born in London, 25 July 1920. In 1952 he designed a machine that took photographs showing evidence of the shape of DNA, now known as Photo 51.

This photo was obtained from an X-ray crystallography experiment he carried out in 1952. This photo shows a clear diffraction pattern for B form of DNA. Sadly Rosalind died young at the age of 37 from ovarian cancer.

7. One Hand Syringe – Letitia Mumford Geer

These 7 inventions were apparently started by female scientistssyringe found letitia geer (pexels.com/cottonbro)

Syringes are very useful in the world of health. The initial inventors of the syringe were Charles Gabriel Prabaz and Alexander Wood. In those days, syringes required the use of two hands.

In 1899, Letitia Mumford Geer received a patent for a syringe that the patient could hold firmly while squeezing the handle to administer the drug, which then entered the rectum. The syringe design includes a barrel, piston rod, handle, and nozzle.

All of these inventions are still useful and under development today. Women with knowledge are extraordinary things. Because the knowledge does not stop only for itself but also taught to the next generation. Come on, support women researchers and avoid gender discrimination!
