Apple will kick in two days finally finished WWDC21. During the keynote, which starts at 7:00 PM Dutch time, we can take a first look at the new operating systems such as iOS 15 and macOS 12.

To set the mood a bit, we’re already looking ahead to the new operating system for your iPhone. We do this by listing five new iOS 15 functionalities that we can probably use next fall.

iOS 15: Do We Know Anything Now?

It will of course take a while before we can really use them, but next Monday we will know which new functionalities are available to the iPhone come. Where Apple often manages to keep new products a secret until the last minute, there are of course already some expectations about iOS 15.

Over the past few months, we’ve seen several features and improvements that are likely to come with the iOS 15 update. So take the following with a grain of salt.

iOS 15: 5 new features for your iPhone

Due to the rumors and leaks of recent times, we can expect the following five iOS 15 functionalities for the iPhone:

#1 The food meter

Last year, Apple introduced the sleep monitor for the Health app and this year it is going a step further. The company is launching with iOS 15, according to a recent rumor, the food meter. It is not yet known exactly how far this functionality goes, but it is expected that it can measure the calories consumed using your Apple Watch. To what extent you have to contribute to this yourself, apart from eating the calories, remains to be seen.

#2 More privacy for your iPhone

Apple is known for its focus on privacy and will no doubt continue this trend with the release of iOS 15. For example, the company is expected to further expand the App Tracking Transparency. With a new functionality, you wouldn’t just be able to control which apps can track you. Starting with iOS 15, it will also be possible to find out which apps are quietly stealing your data.

#3 Enhanced Dark Mode

Apple is tackling Dark Mode with iOS 15. The company is expected to make minor improvements throughout the system. For example, think of the bubbles in iMessage that get a dark color.

#4 iMessage in a new jacket

Speaking of iMessage: Apple’s messaging service is getting a new look for iOS 15. The company would like to compete more with WhatsApp and does so through a lot of new functionalities. It is not yet known exactly how Apple does this.

#5 Custom Notifications

Apple is completely mixing up notifications in iOS 15. At least, the impact of this change is entirely in the hands of the user. It should be possible to adjust notifications. By categorizing certain notifications, you will receive different notifications at different times of the day.

For example, when you are awake, you can receive notifications with sound. If you are sleeping, the notifications will not make a sound. And if you are on the road by car, notifications are turned off. These are a number of examples that indicate that you get much more control over your notifications.

iOS 15 during WWDC21

As mentioned, we can almost certainly assume that iOS 15 can be seen during WWDC21. The event, which runs through June 11, 2021, will kick off next Monday (June 7). Apple starts the week with a keynote that can be followed live in the Netherlands at 7 p.m.
