Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The UN General Assembly condemned Russia’s recent annexation of four regions of Ukraine in a referendum deemed “illegitimate”. However, there are four countries that are on Moscow’s side.
In a meeting that took place in New York on Wednesday (10/12/2022), 143 countries of the General Assembly, made up of 193 members, supported a resolution that declared Moscow’s move illegal, as well as deepening the isolation international of Russia.
Only four countries joined Russia in voting against the resolution: Syria, Nicaragua, North Korea and Belarus.

A total of 35 countries abstained from the vote, including China, Russia’s strategic partner, while the others did not.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has said that Donetsk, Luhansk and the southern regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson are now included in the territory of the Red Bear Country through a recent referendum.
Meanwhile, the four countries that rejected the resolution are known to be close to Russia.
North Korea, for example, is in the same position as Russia in resisting the influence of Western countries, often led by the United States (USA). Supreme leader Kim Jong Un also openly supports President Vladimir Putin’s war actions in Ukraine.
Russia’s neighbor Belarus has expressed its support for Putin even more clearly. On Monday, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said he was ready to deploy his troops to help Russia in the war against Ukraine.
It is different with Syria, which is actually not that big, while Syria has long been known as a country closely related to Russia in terms of its military. Weapons of Russian origin are omnipresent in the country and during the war in Ukraine Syria was cited as one of the countries of origin of the mercenaries who fought alongside Putin.
Finally, Nicaragua, although not directly involved in the war in Ukraine, neither physically nor officially, is also known to have close ties to the Land of the Red Bear.
