These 14 UKM Get Financing Facilities of IDR 167 Billion

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A total of 14 perpetrator small and medium enterprises ( UKM) oriented export obtain financing facilities with a value of Rp. 167 billion.

The funds come from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), and Financial Institutions Export Indonesia (LPEI), which is specifically provided to support exporters in facing difficult times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto said that funding is really needed to support SMEs so that they are increasingly active in exporting, especially in the midst of the current pandemic.

“This export financing is expected to help ‘SMEs move up in class’ to keep their business wheels moving. So, they can contribute to increasing non-oil and gas exports and help improve the national economic and trade balance, ”he said in a written statement, Friday (4/12/2020).

As for the export commodities from SME players who receive the financing, among others are marine products such as fish and shrimp, wood products and furniture, to footwear.

According to Agus, the provision of export financing is a form of synergy and collaboration between the central government, local governments, business actors, including banks and the LPEI in providing easy financing support for exports.

In addition, the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) also specifically collaborates with BRI in providing banking services to business actors who have routinely exported as well as potential exporters.

The cooperation was outlined in the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Ministry of Trade’s Director General of National Export Development (PEN) and the Director of Small, Retail and Medium Business BRI Priyastomo.

The cooperation between the two has two scopes, namely the provision and utilization of banking service facilities for SMEs in the trade sector, and the exchange of data and information regarding SMEs in the trade sector.

This cooperation is valid for the next two years until December 2, 2022.

According to Kasan, this collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and BRI is an effort to make a breakthrough in responding to the massive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. He hopes that the synergy of the two can further encourage the role of SMEs in increasing national exports.

“The Ministry of Trade seeks to facilitate business actors with fiscal and non-fiscal stimuli for business actors that can encourage competitive national exports,” said Kasan.
