These 12 Franconian companies are involved

Twelve companies with headquarters in Franconia are taking part: The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs has honored 50 fast-growing, medium-sized companies based in Bavaria.

The 50 companies from the Free State were awarded the white “Bavarian Growth Lion” for their exceptional sales and employee growth over the past five years, reports the consulting firm Baker Tilly. Companies from Upper, Middle and Lower Franconia also made it onto the 2024 list of the best.

“The 50 selected award winners have an average sales growth of +146 percent and an employee growth of +66 percent over the last five years,” says Baker Tilly. In a nationwide survey to determine “Germany’s best employers” and in a current study on particularly attractive training companies in Germany, several Franconian companies also performed very well.

Companies from all administrative districts in Bavaria were invited to take part in the competition, according to Baker Tilly. The call was aimed at all sectors and covered a wide range of company sizes. The consulting firm then determined the winners of the “Bavaria’s Best 50” competition on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. Special prize winners were also represented.

A total of 9,000 medium-sized companies were identified through database analyses and with the support of chambers of commerce, municipalities and associations that basically meet the criteria for participation in the competition, according to those responsible.

23 award winners generate annual sales between 40 million and 130 million euros. 18 award winners are in the sales category of over 130 million euros. “It can therefore be stated that this year, medium to large German SMEs are particularly well represented among the BB50,” explains Thomas Edenhofer, Managing Partner Audit & Advisory and partner responsible for “Bavaria’s Best 50” at Baker Tilly.

These companies with headquarters in Upper Franconia are taking part – one company receives a special prize

Four companies from Upper Franconia secured a place in the “Bavaria’s Best 50”, in which fast-growing, medium-sized companies based in Bavaria were awarded prizes:

  • Erich Netzsch BV & Co. Holding KG (Selb, Wunsiedel district)

Among others, the Heinz-Glas Group can be pleased, speaking of an “honor”. In 2023, its turnover was almost half a billion euros, it reports. The number of employees has also grown steadily in recent years: the company currently employs almost 4,000 people at 18 locations in 13 countries, it says. Within “Bavaria’s Best 50”, companies were also recognized this year for their special training management: With 136 trainees, Erich Netzsch BV & Co. Holding KG has the highest number of trainees among the qualified companies, as Baker Tilly reports.

There are three companies from Middle Franconia:

  • Greenovative GmbH (Nürnberg)

  • toolcraft AG (Georgensgmünd, district of Roth)

“I would like to congratulate both companies and their employees on this outstanding achievement. The award winners demonstrate impressively how opportunities for growth and employment can be used. The companies are thus making a valuable contribution to securing and strengthening Nuremberg as a business location. It is gratifying that their work has been appropriately recognized through this award,” said Nuremberg’s Economic and Scientific Officer Andrea Heilmaier in a statement from the city.
