These 11 top albums will be released this year

Berlin – The music year 2024 is far from over – it still has a few records in store. Some are already eagerly awaited, others come as a surprise. The following albums are particularly exciting to look forward to:

1. Post Malone

Hip-hop, R&B, rock, pop or country? The US singer cannot be clearly assigned to a genre. However, the eighteen tracks on his sixth album “F-1 Trillion” (August 16) contain a surprising number of influences from the country scene. Big names such as Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Chris Stapleton and Hank Williams Jr. contributed to the songs. On his last record (“Austin”, 2023), however, the 29-year-old did not have any guests.

2. Sabrina Carpenter

With a gold album and several platinum singles under her belt, it’s no surprise that the debut single “Espresso” from Sabrina Carpenter’s new album “Short n’ Sweet” (August 23) became a worldwide number one hit. The new album is said to have been inspired by relationships and love. In keeping with this, she has already released a second song and video: “Please, Please, Please” is all about an escape from prison – and a love story.

3. Katy Perry

After a four-year break, the “I Kissed A Girl” chart-topper is back with new music. The name of her new work “143” (September 20) is said to be a coded love message, with the number sequence representing the number of letters in the English words I (1) love (4) you (3). In the early 1990s, lovers often used this combination of numbers to send each other a love message via pager. The singer wants to convey a “consistent message” of love with this title, as announced by the label Capitol Records. Stylistically, fans can expect a “bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album,” it continued.

4. Paris Hilton

Almost two decades after “Paris,” the US reality star is making a music comeback. For her new album “Infinite Icon” (September 6), Paris Hilton has teamed up with singer and producer Sia. Singer Meghan Trainor (“All About That Bass”) also made it onto the record with “Chasin.” “This song is a reminder to stop chasing someone who never deserves you,” writes 43-year-old Hilton about the joint song.

5. David Garrett

For his new album “Millennium Symphony” (October 18), the New York-based artist has used the “most exciting hits of the last 25 years,” as was announced in advance of the release. From Harry Styles to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé – the 43-year-old violinist’s album announcement promises a symphonic reinterpretation that is intended to appeal to various fan groups. Garrett’s version of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” gives a foretaste of this stylistic fusion.

6. Max Richter

After a career spanning decades, the globally acclaimed composer finally announced the dates of his first world tour with the announcement of “In A Landscape” (September 6). Richter, who is known for seamlessly combining traditional orchestration with modern electronic elements, aims to unite polarities in his new work, it was announced. “The electronics with the acoustic instruments, the natural world with the human world, and the big ideas of life with the personal and intimate.”

7. The Fantastic Four

After six years of waiting, fans can finally look forward to a new record from the “Fanta 4”. It could be the last time. The four Stuttgarters announced their eleventh album “Long Player” (October 4) last year – as well as advance sales for the big arena tour, which is set to start shortly after the release. “I can’t say whether there will be another one after that,” said Thomas D. in a recent interview with the newspaper “Badische Neueste Nachrichten”.

8. Max Herre and Joy Denalane

Even after 25 years of being together, the couple is releasing a first album together. In 2004, their first song together, “Mit Dir,” was released. Now, “Alles Liebe” (November 1) is again about many feelings – both old and new. “There are a thousand forms of love. Ours is one of them – and the album is our perspective on it,” says Herre about the record. A few weeks after the release, the two also want to go on tour together.

9. Coldplay

In the spirit of sustainability: Three years have passed since the release of “Music of the Spheres”. The album even landed Coldplay at number one in the charts in Great Britain. Since then, the band has been on the road a lot and is trying to reduce climate-damaging emissions on their tours. The record for their tenth album “Moon Music” (October 4th) will also be made from recycled plastic bottles – and thus leave a lasting impression.

10. Kerstin Ott

Kerstin Ott’s fifth album is intended to portray life in all its colors. This is also the case with the single of the same name, “Für immer für dich” (18 October) – the emotional story of a deep, lifelong bond that invites you to celebrate musically. The singer revealed in advance that she dedicated the song, which begins with the words “For you, no path is too far for me,” to her wife, with whom the 42-year-old has been married since 2017.

11. The nerves

The last album by the Stuttgart trio? No way! Even if the title “We were here” (September 13) suggests a farewell. “It’s the first album that doesn’t feel like it’s our last,” said the band in the run-up to the release. Four singles have already been released. Thematically, the noisy songs deal with environmental pollution and reckless waste.
