Enthusiasm in theaters and at the box office. The success of “There’s Still Tomorrow” continues, Paola Cortellesi’s first directorial work, but which also sees her as an interpreter. According to Cinetel findings, as of Saturday 11 November the film, presented at the Rome Film Festival and in theaters from 26 October, had been seen by one million 580 thousand spectators and had grossed a total of over 11 million euros, recalling summer records of «Barbie» and «Oppenheimer».
On Saturday not only does it dominate the rankings, but the viewers of the new Disney film “The Marvel”, released on November 8th, largely double: over 193 thousand go to see Cortellesi, while Disney stops at 75 thousand. In the top ten there are two other Italian films: «Comandante» by Edoardo De Angelis with Pierfrancesco Favino, released on 31 October and «Me contro Te – Vacanze in Transylvania», in theaters from 19 November. To date the two have grossed, respectively, 2 million 366 thousand euros and 4 million 789 thousand, far from the 11 million of “There’s Still Tomorrow”.
Paola Cortellesi says she is “overwhelmed” by the success of her film, which tells the story of the strength of women, moving from drama to farce without stridency and co-starring Valerio Mastandrea, Romana Maggiora Vergano, Emanuela Fanelli, Giorgio Colangeli and Vinicio Marchioni. The film tells the story of Delia, a commoner from Testaccio, two children, an obtuse and violent husband, a bedridden dependent father-in-law and many odd jobs to put together lunch and dinner. At a key moment in our country, June 1946. To write the film, the actress was inspired by the memories of her grandparents. «I go into the past to talk about a female condition that is no longer like this but preserves cultural legacies, dangerously alive and vivid. I’m happy to be told that it captures the spirit of the times. The strength of women. Of yesterday and today. That was my intent” explained the director.
