“But there is something of a cat in a man. There is definitely more to me than Lāčplēš and maybe something of Quasimodo”, laughs the musician.
She admits she feels like she can’t do everything she used to, but the current situation offers other options.
When asked where he found the strength to continue, Igo says there has been a lot of inertia in his life: “There have been many creative successes. The year 2000 also started with very, very intense work, because in January and February there was a concert tour that I organized. At the same time, rehearsals of the new opera “From Rose to Blood” by Zigmars Liepiņš took place. Then this show started. I just got the feeling that life by the sea in Jūrklan can give. It was all uplifting, creative.”
Igo says that he was taken from Jūrkalne to Riga that day to pick up audio equipment there and go to Olaine High School, where two performances were scheduled.
Asked if he asked fate why this happened, the musician says nothing happens only to those who do nothing: “Obviously I tried too hard to be anywhere.”
It has already been reported that on the morning of May 16, 2000, at the 25th kilometer of the Talsi-Stende-Kuldīga highway, the car driven by Igo crashed into a log conveyor. The musician was seriously injured and had to undergo long-term treatment.
