PURWOKERTO.SUARA.COM – FC Bayern Munich confirm that they will not sign Cristiano Ronaldo as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who has officially moved to Barcelona.
After several weeks of negotiations, Barcelona finally agreed with Bayern Munich to bring Lewandowski to the Camp Nou for £50m.
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn told Bild that Barcelona ultimately offered a reasonable sum for Lewandowski.
“We’ve also been successful in the recent transfer market, signing world-class forward Sadio Mane. So we have an agreement with Barcelona,” Kahn was quoted as saying by Metro.co.uk.
“But only verbal for now, the contract is pending,” he added.
Bayern, who bought Sadio Mane from Liverpool for £35m, are one of the European clubs who could sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I like Cristiano Ronaldo, he is an exceptional player. But every club has a philosophy and I don’t think it will fit into Bayern and the Bundesliga if we sign it,” Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn was quoted as saying by journalist and player transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 37-year-old has announced his intention to leave Manchester United this summer to play in the Champions League this season.
However, Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sport1 last Saturday that he was not interested in Ronaldo.
“I have a lot of respect for Cristiano Ronaldo, his success and his career, but that’s not our focus either,” said Salihamidzic.
Earlier this week, Chelsea also said they were not interested in signing Ronaldo. They said they needed a more defensive line and signed Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
