A driver’s license (SIM) that expires after one day is no longer valid. This means that the SIM holder cannot renew the dead SIM. However, there are special provisions for holidays and leave with this Nyepi Day.
Usually, even if a SIM dies after one day, the SIM cannot be extended again. The owner of the expired SIM should carry out the process of issuing a new SIM. The mechanism for issuing a new SIM is that you have to take a written exam and a practical exam. The amount of the fee is also different.
This is regulated in Police Regulation No. 5 of 2021 concerning Issuance and Marking of Driving Permits. Written in article 4 paragraph 3 of Perpol No. 5 of 2021, if a SIM has expired, a new SIM must be issued.
Now, the dead SIM can still be extended. As quoted by the TMC Polda Metro Jaya Twitter account, there is a dispensation during holidays and leave with Nyepi Day. People whose SIM expires right on holidays and collective leave can still apply for a SIM extension mechanism. This means that the owner of the SIM does not need to do any more practical and written exams.
The condition is that the SIM expires on March 22, 2023 or March 23, 2023. A SIM that expires on March 22, 2023 or March 23, 2023 must be extended on March 24, 2023, tomorrow. Outside of this provision, a dead SIM cannot be extended and a mechanism for issuing a new SIM will apply.
Following are the conditions:
1. On March 22 and 23, 2023 services at Daan Mogot Satpas, DKI Jakarta Satpas unit, DKI Jakarta SIM Booth Unit and Mobile SIM Unit will be closed
2. The SIM issuance service will reopen on Friday, 24 March 2023
3. Driving license that expires on 22-23 March 2023 can be extended on 24 March 2023.
Meanwhile, the cost of extending a SIM according to Government Regulation Number 60 of 2016 concerning Non-Tax State Revenue is Rp. 80,000 for an extension of SIM A (car) and Rp. 75,000 for an extension of SIM C (motorcycle).
Conditions for extending SIM A or C include:
- Photocopy of a valid KTP;
- Copy of old SIM and original SIM;
- Proof of Health Check;
- Psychological Test Evidence.
