The European Commission signed a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijan to double natural gas importsReuters reported.
Azeri gas supplies to Europe should reach 20 billion cubic meters per year by 2027, announced EC President Ursula von der Leyen.
“The EU is looking for ways to reduce its dependence on Russia and is turning to more reliable partners. I gladly welcome Azerbaijan as one of them,” said Von der Leyen, quoted by BNR.
Already this year, supplies of blue fuel from Azerbaijan are expected to reach 12 billion cubic meters, the Commission specified.
