The order of the keys on the computer keyboard is a legacy of the typewriters and is called QWERTY after the first six letters of the top letter line.
The layout was invented by the typewriter’s father, Christopher Sholes, in the early 1870s.
Common English letters such as “th” and “st” appear at a distance that prevents the typewriter’s mechanical arms from locking against each other.
It also means that the writing speed decreases. In the 1930s came the alternative keyboard Dvorak, which would streamline the typing process.
