Therefore, she will not celebrate if she wins

Elsa Søllesvik, better known under the artist name Elsie Bay, is one of those who will be on stage in the H3 arena during this year’s Melodi Grand Prix final on Saturday.

Must save celebration

Elsie Bay has long had high odds of winning the final, only surpassed by the duo Subwoolfer.

Despite the favorite stamp, there will be no party on Saturday night if the artist should run away with the victory.

– People probably think that if I win, champagne and things like that will be popped. But if I win, I have to enter the H3 arena again on Monday and record a recording in case something goes wrong in Eurovision, she says.

It is in case one can not be present during the international final in Turin that the winner will record the performance if they win.

– If I win, I take it easy so I am ready to do my best on Monday, then we will have the party later, the artist reveals.

Double chance of winning

However, this is not Elsie Bay’s first participation in the MGP. Last year, she participated as a songwriter for the artist Emmy with the song “Witch Woods”, which also reached the national finals.

– It was an experience that made me very curious about MGP, and I really wanted to write more songs for MGP because I had so much fun last year, she says.

Also this year, she participates as songwriter on co-finalist Oda Gondrosen’s song “Hammer of Thor”. She thus has a double chance of reaching the international final in Turin, correctly either as a songwriter or artist.

Elsie Bay was in Malmö with the two songwriters she wrote the song with, when she found out that she was pre-qualified and thus went straight to the final.

– It felt very, very, very good! We were a bunch who were already invested in the song that was collected when we found out. So then we got to celebrate a little together, says the 25-year-old.

Speller nomination and over 35 million streams

Elsie Bay was previously part of the duo Elsa and Emilie, who among other things helped to provide sound for the TV series SHAME and has over 35 million streams on Spotify. In addition, the duo was nominated for Spellemann.

She says that it was after the duo parted ways that she realized that it was also an opportunity to write songs for others.

Still, she longed to return to the stage herself.

– I could not put that artist idea completely on the shelf anyway. So I want to do both, she says.

Favorite to win

Despite the fact that the artist and Subwoofler are close to the winning list, there is a lot that separates the songs.

– My song is a ballad and is very calm, and I think that many people like it if we look at several of those who have been voted on. Farida and Sofie (Fjellvang), for example, also have very calm songs. At the same time, Subwoolfer has a very fun song that has done well on TikTok, and stuff, says Elsie Bay.

However, she does not hide that it would have meant a lot to win.

– There is nothing like Eurovision. It’s very big. 200 million TV viewers. So there is no better arena really to show off their music, the artist concludes.
