There will only be one candidate left in two constituencies of Seine-Saint-Denis

The choice will be reduced for voters in the 4th and 11th constituencies of Seine-Saint-Denis. The two candidates who came in second position have indeed announced that they will withdraw, leaving the field open to Soumya Bourouha in the 4th and Clémentine Autain in the 11th, both representing Nupes. There will therefore only be one ballot available next Sunday.

In the 4th constituency, Soumya Bourouha, substitute for outgoing PCF deputy Marie-George Buffet, obtained 36.13% of the vote last Sunday against 21.43, for Azzedine Taïbi, the mayor of Stains and dissident Nupes. This dissidence is part of a fairly complex electoral grub. Azzedine Taïbi is a PCF inserter but supports Jean-Luc Mélenchon during the presidential election, to the detriment of Fabien Roussel, the party’s candidate. He wanted to run for the legislative elections but, following the Nupes agreement, this constituency was allocated to the PCF which decided to present Soumya Bourouha. The mayor of Stains maintained his candidacy which therefore became dissenting before withdrawing it on Tuesday June 14, after a press conference.

“This withdrawal is in no way a submission, nor a call to vote. It is above all a responsible withdrawal, respectful of the voters, ”explained Azzedine Taïbi, according to remarks reported par The Parisian. But, far from calming things down, the mayor, with a tenacious resentment, denounced “a real electoral hold-up, an organized gang scam”. In addition, the elected official announced that he was leaving the PCF while supporting Mélenchon in the legislative elections.

“Hate and controversy machine”

The situation was no less explosive in the 11th district. And Clémentine Autain’s press release recording the withdrawal of her opponent, Virginie de Carvalho, is also a model of resentment. The outgoing LFI MP notes first, in all modesty, that “this decision [de retrait] is the result of a constraint, the excessive difference in our scores”, namely 46.15% against 15.1% of the votes cast. She then attacks the dissident on the left: “For many months, my predecessor and mayor of Tremblay-en-France, François Asensi, led a fierce campaign against me with Virginie de Carvalho, not hesitating to slander me for lack of serious political arguments. “While discarding:” At no time have I, we have fueled the machine of hatred and controversy unleashed by the supporters of this candidacy for division. »
