“BSP has three options with very strong candidates. And the figures for president and vice president will be proposed by the Bulgarian Socialist Party,” MEP Iliana Yotova announced to Nova TV during the BSP meeting in Buzludzha and promised that there would be surprises.
According to her, the problems in GERD are obvious. “The problems in this very difficult and, if you ask me, useless coalition that is running the country at the moment are obvious. So probably a lot of things have to be calculated,” Iliana Yotova added.
“The first exchange of views between BSP and ABV will be next Tuesday. It will only be within our executive office. Due to the absence of Georgi Parvanov and Tatiana Doncheva, we will not be able to meet,” Yotova said. But a second round of negotiations will be held and she is optimistic that an agreement will be reached with ABV.
“On August 14, at a meeting of the National Council, BSP will present its presidential candidate pair. We have made great progress in the negotiations with ABV. It is possible to have a common cross-party candidacy with the support of ABV. BSP has three options with very strong candidates. Expect surprises. In any case, the figures will be proposed by BSP circles,” the MEP also commented.
“However, this does not necessarily mean party candidacies, we have several options. In addition, we leave the door a little open for a leadership battle, but anyway, whatever our main opponent does, the BSP will have both names on August 14,” she said categorically. was Yotova.
When asked if a leadership battle means Boyko Borisov vs. Kornelia Ninova, Yotova answered: “It does, but it seems increasingly unlikely to me, because Mr. Borisov is obviously afraid to enter such a battle, he is currently thinking about what will happen to him the most profitable. The problems within the GERB party are obvious, the problems are obvious in this very difficult and, if you ask me, useless coalition that is ruling the country at the moment,” said Yotova.
“However, as an MEP, I will be extremely pleased with something, because I strongly believe that Bulgaria’s presidency of the EU will already be with a president elected by the left forces in Bulgaria,” added Iliyana Yotova.
