Experts also pointed out that there are currently very few children in the country as a whole who engage in physical activity, which refers to the development of various sports, including football. The Secretary General of the LFF explained in the discussion that funding will increase in the future and a recession is not expected.

Marking the future perspectives, the experts pointed out that while there are children in Latvia who want to train in this sport, the parties involved must do everything possible to ensure it. The participants of the discussion expressed hope that in the future funding for the development of this sport will increase, which would be directed to the creation and improvement of football fields, as well as to the training of coaches and other issues.

Edgars Pukinsks, Secretary General of the Latvian Football Federation, pointed out that “the situation with funding is not bad at the moment, but it is necessary to change the understanding of sports, realizing that it is not spending, but investing. Funding for football as a whole will increase, there will be an upward curve in the next four years, and funding for clubs will also increase if Covid-19 does not affect the situation. ”

Dzintars Kazaks, the founder and executive director of the Baltic Football School, pointed out that “it is also necessary to work on the mental endurance of young and future football players, on competitiveness and readiness for fierce competitions.” He noted that serious work should be done to develop the functional development of children and young people and to promote a more active lifestyle in general, regardless of the sport the child chooses.
