Riga, Nov. 16, LETA. On the 102nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia, there will be no public events in the capital, but concerts will be shown online to create a festive mood, Indra Vilde, Head of Communication and Public Relations, Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sports Department, informed LETA.
The November 18 festival program with concerts has been prepared by Riga Cultural Centers with the participation of favorite performing artists. Their performance will be available online.
The concert “Songs of Latvian Power” will be performed at the Culture Palace “Ziemeļblāzma”, where actresses Rēzija Kalniņa, Olga Dreģe, Lilita Ozoliņa, musicians Jānis Aišpurs and Alex will perform. The “Tenor Trio” will sing in the cultural center “Mazā guilde” together with instrumentalist performances, poetry and prose readings in the concert “On the Land We Love”.
VEF Culture Palace offers listeners a concert “From Vītols to Paula”, in which the orchestra “Rīga” and Oskars Petrauskis will play, Daumants Kalniņš, Ieva Parša, Inga Šļubovska-Kanceviča will sing, as well as dancers Dāniela Bāra and Reinis Rešetins will perform. A concert performance “Song Dance” will be streamed from the audience of the cultural center “Ilguciems”, in which the actress of the Latvian National Theater Zane Jančevska, Jēkabs Jančevskis and friends will participate.
The group “Iļģi” will be happy during the concert “Cornerstones”, which will be broadcast from the Latvian Railway History Museum. The concert performance “For the First Latvian National Opera” Banuta – 100 “” will take place in the building of the Riga Latvian Society with the participation of several classical music performers. In turn, instrumental Latvian music on Latvia’s birthday will be performed at Riga St. St. John’s Church.
Vilde said that the festive concert “Let’s Sing Well, Balini” has also been taken care of by folklore and ancient fighting ensemble “Vilkači”. In turn, the concert of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” on the holiday “Freedom of Knowledge” will be shown on the live broadcast of the Latvian Regional Television “Re TV”.
The representative of the municipality added that the lighting of the Freedom Monument “My Song”, which will be on view from November 16 to November 22, will create a festive feeling in the city. In addition, national flags, flag constructions in squares and squares, flag ribbons at lighting poles, the environmental design object “Liesma” created by the artist Kristīne Plaude and the environmental object “Flag in the Whirlpool” created by the artist Armands Vecvanags are placed on the city streets.
The city also exhibits artist Reinis Helmanis holiday posters and messages dedicated to patriotic mood in the environmental object “Gate of Honor”, where the video programs “My gold is my health”, “My gold is my Latvia”, “My gold is my anthem”, “My gold is my free Latvia “, created by authors Māris Kalve and Kaspars Eglītis.
Exhibitions dedicated to the festival can also be seen in the city’s cultural institutions. Riga St. Documents and photographs in the exhibition “There is Latvia. There is Latvia Free” in St. Peter’s Church reflect the history of Latvia. In turn, the folk applied art exhibition “My Articles for Latvia” will be on display at the Imanta Culture Center.
