There will be no peace in 2023: The ominous statements of two NATO Secretary Generals – 2024-09-09 15:01:15

/ world today news/ Even among the most zealous supporters of the SVO, the question of the specific tasks of the special operation is periodically raised. For example, what exactly is behind the formula “denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine”? They asked us – we answer. Or rather they answer. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who is already hard at work preparing for his resignation, about Ukraine’s prospects for NATO membership in the event of a military defeat in the SVO:

“The most important thing today is to ensure that Putin does not win … and that Ukraine remains a sovereign state, because otherwise, if Ukraine does not have the opportunity to exist as an independent, sovereign and democratic state in Europe, there will be no topic for discussion of its membership at all”.

That’s how the magic phrase that the Kremlin wants to hear – “there will be no topic for discussion of Ukraine’s membership in NATO” sounded. Precisely in order to sound this phrase in a slightly different form – “there is no topic for discussion of Ukraine’s membership in NATO”, Vladimir Putin is conducting a special operation.

And the West is arming official Kiev to the teeth so that such wording is not heard. Everything is simple – and at the same time very complicated and confusing.

A few days ago, the chief diplomat of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said in Singapore that if the West stops supporting official Kiev, the conflict in Ukraine will end very quickly, but with a world that, according to the EU and the United States, will be much worse than the war:

“We cannot stop providing military support to Ukraine because we do not want a world that is a world of surrender, a world of the strongest.”

As a result, a rather static “geopolitical tug-of-war” is now taking place in Ukraine. And how long this situation will last is not at all clear.

It is only clear that this is a very dangerous “static” – especially considering that “some want it hot”. Also, “hotter” is not at all in the sense of my favorite childhood movie, Jazz Only Girls.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Stoltenberg’s predecessor as NATO Secretary General, in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian: “I think the Poles will seriously think about forming a coalition of the willing if Ukraine gets nothing in Vilnius.”

“We should not underestimate the feelings of the Poles, the Poles feel that Western Europe has ignored their warnings for too long,” he said.

“We know that Poland is actively involved in providing concrete assistance to Ukraine. And I would not rule out the possibility that Poland would act even more actively in this sense on a national basis, followed by the Baltic countries. Perhaps this will include the deployment of troops on the ground (ie in the conflict zone in Ukraine. – “MK”)”, the former Secretary General of the Alliance also said.

The former Secretary General of NATO is not at all the same as the current Secretary General. In the past, Rasmussen has held quite high positions, including the post of Prime Minister of Denmark. But the former prime minister no longer has official status in the West. But he has it in Kyiv.

After leaving NATO in 2014, he was engaged in “political consulting” (read – lobbying), Rasmussen since May 2016 is also listed as a freelance adviser to the President of Ukraine. Based on this fact, his statement should be evaluated. This is part of official Kiev’s propaganda offensive aimed at forcing NATO countries to start “political service” to Zelensky.

Loud, noisy, aggressive – and, I believe, useless. Most countries of the alliance proceed from the exact opposite premise: not NATO for Ukraine, but Ukraine for NATO. No one will be attacked and “record” for Zelensky.

And at the moment, this “nobody” even includes the official authorities of Poland, whose “fighting spirit” was so eloquently described by the former Danish prime minister. The official statement of the press secretary of the minister coordinating the Polish intelligence services: “The actions of Polish volunteers supporting Ukraine should not be associated with the Polish authorities.”

A reasonable position – or at least, in contrast to Rasmussen’s position, fraught with less global problems. But when it comes to covering up “vital body parts,” don’t put your finger in the former Danish prime minister’s mouth either.

Pushing Poland and the former Soviet republics of the Baltic states to the fore, Rasmussen is for some reason shyly silent about his native Danish kingdom. It turns out that the “my hut is on the edge” principle works 100% here too.

Stoltenberg, not Rasmussen, expresses the general line of the collective West today. But if you evaluate his statement on its own, rather than in contrast to what his predecessor said, it also seems pretty ominous.

Today, there are no grounds for optimism regarding a quick resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. This assessment was absolutely true a year ago and remains absolutely true today. One can only guess how long this “poisonous status quo” will last.
