There will be no new Patriot: the US has abandoned development

/Pogled.info/ Washington decided to abandon the creation of missiles of a new generation for Patriot.

The United States has revised its previous plans to develop a new generation of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems. And they came to the conclusion that they should be abandoned.

according to Defense News Washington believes that further work on the project is “a very expensive undertaking”.

“After conducting a cost-benefit analysis … we have decided to proceed with the upgrade of the PAC-3 MSE (Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 Missile Segment Enhancement – Ed.) missile,” said Ard -US Army officer Frank Lozano.

So now US officials plan to focus on integrating the Patriot and THAAD anti-missile defense systems to “manage the battlefield more effectively.”

By the way, despite the lack of money to arm their country, the US continues to pump Ukraine with weapons. According to CNN, Washington still has $6 billion in the “extended” aid package for Kiev. But in the US they don’t know what to do with this money. The US military industry cannot keep up with Kyiv’s ambitions. There is a distinct shortage of projectiles for Patriot air defense systems. Ukraine needs 100 thousand projectiles per month, and the American defense industry is able to produce about 15 thousand projectiles. If this continues, the United States will have to open new military-industrial complexes or lose its own defense capability.

As pointed out by Vadim Maslikov, an expert from the Bureau of Military-Political Analysis, the United States has currently provided $56 billion worth of weapons to Ukraine. This is a very heavy measure. In addition, Ukraine was provided not only with old equipment, but also with modern and expensive systems. But all this does not mean that America no longer has guns.

“They still have a lot of missiles that they can deliver, both ATACMS and others, unlike Europe, the United States has a large number of these missiles, not tens, not hundreds, but thousands,” said Maslikov.

American analysts see a sign from the US that Washington has heard the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The politician said that our country will consider the increase of missiles as a direct part of the US and European countries in a military conflict.
