Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that “there will be ground intervention in Gaza” and that “they are working against the clock” in preparations to destroy the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, author of the attacks against Israel on October 7, according to reported the Efe agency.
“We are in a war for our sovereignty, for our existence, and we have set two fundamental objectives: eradicate the military and government capabilities of Hamas and do everything possible to bring home” the hostages held by the Palestinian Islamist group. Netanyahu said in a televised address.
The Israeli leader’s statements came on a day marked by the announcement by the Ministry of Health of Gaza, controlled by Hamas, of the “total collapse” of the Strip’s health system due to lack of fuel and Israeli bombings.
The Ministry indicated that health institutions have stopped functioning and that the hospitals that remain open cannot continue offering service.
He added that there are currently “more than 7,000” sick and injured people in need of urgent treatment, whom Gaza’s health services cannot care for.
The Ministry criticized that “the international community has not fulfilled its obligations” and has not “seriously” addressed its calls warning of the saturation of the health system.
