On July 8, the Sejm adopted an amendment to the act on National Labor Inspectoratewhich talks about granting additional rights leave holiday for some PIP employees. On Tuesday, it was unanimously adopted by the Family, Senior and Social Policy Committee.

Additional leave for PIP inspectors

The amendment provides for additional leave for inspectors work performing inspection activities for at least 10 years, 6 working days, and after 20 years work – 12 days – we read in the message National Labor Inspectorate. The bill will be submitted to the Senate for plenary deliberation and, if approved by the House, will be submitted to the President for signature. The changes are to enter into force on January 1, 2022.

According to PIP, the proposal to grant additional leave for some employees is “very important for the functioning of the labor inspection”. “Labor inspectors, when carrying out their tasks related to carrying out inspections, are exposed to stress and high mental burden in their daily work. Moreover, they must constantly expand their knowledge and face new tasks, which they are heavily burdened every year” – Katarzyna Łażewska-Hrycko, Chief Labor Inspector believes.

Privileged groups have longer leaves

Employees employed for at least 10 years are entitled to 26 days of paid annual leave. In the case of a shorter employment period, they are entitled to 20 days of leave – this is what Art. 153 of the Labor Code. However, there are also privileged groups that may enjoy longer holidays.

In Poland, they include:in. teachers, prosecutors and judges, policemen and soldiers. From next year, PIP inspectors will also join them. Pursuant to the regulations in force, prosecutors and judges receive an additional 6 days’ leave after 10 years of work, and 12 days after 15 years of work. In the case of police officers, it is an additional 5 days of vacation after 15 years of service, 9 days for employees with 20 years of service and 13 days of vacation for 25 years of service.
