There will be a USB-C port on iPhones next year

No matter how much you don’t want to, Apple will be forced to introduce a USB-C connector in its phones as well, and the latest news says they may be sending the Lightning port as early as next year.

One known source Ming-Chi Kuo announced a few days ago that Apple will introduce the USB-C port for iPhones in 2023, Bloomberg and in a recent report, they write that a new type of connector is already being tested on apple mobiles.

Apple is also reportedly making a converter that will allow it to use older USB-Cs accessories with older Lightning connectors. It is not yet known whether this will go hand in hand with the new mobiles from the factory, but knowing the company, this can be ruled out, it will almost certainly have to be purchased separately.

Of course, Apple did not voluntarily decide to switch, the new EU rules are in the background, as they recently voted in favor of making the connector mandatory for manufacturers to use a single connector, and they also decided to USB-C will be the common standard.

Apple has repeatedly criticized the initiative, they say “Mandating a single type of connector for all devices on the market is detrimental to European consumers as it slows down the introduction of beneficial improvements in charging standards, including safety and energy efficiency innovations.”

The iPhone 14 models coming this year will of course still come with a Lightning port, the switchover is only expected next year, as we wrote at the beginning of the article.
