The official clarified that if more vaccines are required from this pharmaceutical company for 2022, the negotiation and order will be carried out by Health, not by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With Pfizer we have contracted 50.4 million vaccines this year, of which more than 32 or 33 million have been delivered in a timely manner. The rest must be delivered between now and December, in accordance with the 2021 contract.
The 2022 contract will already be taken by the Ministry of Health because it would no longer be the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry to participate, because we are no longer in an emergency and uncertainty stage like the one we had unfortunately last year and part of this year ”, he stressed.
He stressed that it is in the interest of the Mexican government to put on the table with Pfizer that this vaccine can be produced in Mexico in the near future, for which the high-level dialogue in which the Mexican Foreign Ministry continues to participate is maintained.
On the subject, the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador He pointed out that in October the vaccination will begin for boys and girls with chronic diseases, for which a program is already in place.
From the National Palace, the president also indicated that “the vaccination for those over 18 will be concluded with at least one dose at the end of the month, thanks to the strategy carried out.”
