There were 149 new deaths in Argentina and 7,498 infections

The Ministry of Health of the Nation confirmed 7,498 new infections of coronavirus in Argentina, with a cumulative 276,072 positives since the beginning of the pandemic, while 149 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, which adds up to 5,362 fatalities in total.

Of the 149 new deaths recorded, 82 were men (45 from the province of Buenos Aires, 12 from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires —Caba—, 10 from Jujuy, 4 from Mendoza, 4 from Río Negro, 4 from Santa Fe, 3 from Chaco, 2 from Córdoba and one from Entre Ríos) and 65 women (27 from the province of Buenos Aires, 17 from Caba, 8 from Jujuy, 5 from Mendoza, 3 from Chaco, 2 from Río Negro, one from Córdoba, one from Entre Ríos, one from Tierra del Fuego and one from Santa Fe). A person notified as deceased, resident in the province of Buenos Aires, does not register sex data.

More than half of the day’s infections occurred in the province of Buenos Aires, with 4,983 cases, while Caba had 1,120, Córdoba 175, Jujuy 170, Santa Fe 168, Mendoza 164 and Río Negro 160. They had less than a hundred infected La Rioja (99), Tierra del Fuego (86), Salta (75), Neuquén (65), Chaco (61), Entre Ríos (55), Santa Cruz (49), Santiago del Estero (23), Tucumán (22 ), Chubut (18), Corrientes and Misiones (2 each province) and La Pampa, Catamarca and San Luis (1). San Juan had no infections and Formosa showed negative numbers (-2) due to the territorial reassignment of patients according to the place of residence.

Of the total of 276,072 cases, 1,143 (0.4%) are imported, 71,620 (25.9%) are close contacts of confirmed positives, 162,959 (59%) are of community circulation and the rest are under epidemiological investigation.

In the accumulated, the province of Buenos Aires has 171,381 infections, Caba 74,592, Chaco 4,279, Jujuy 4,203, Córdoba 4,146, Río Negro 3,535, Santa Fe 2,764, Mendoza 2,745, Neuquén 1,719, Entre Ríos 1,365 and Tierra del Fuego 1,226. They are followed by Santa Cruz with 914, Salta has 824, La Rioja 639, Tucumán 502, Chubut 384, Corrientes 222, Santiago del Estero 199, La Pampa 181, Formosa 78, Catamarca 63, Misiones 55, San Luis 33 and San Juan 23.
