The highly contagious virus variant was first discovered in India and has now spread to 132 countries and territories, according to the WHO. The variant is blamed for the fact that the number of corona deaths in Africa has increased by 80 percent in the last four weeks.
Delta is a warning. It is a warning that the virus is developing, but also a call to action now before more dangerous variants arise, says WHO’s crisis manager Michael Ryan.
Ryan says that proven measures are needed to control the spread of infection.
– The same measures that we have used before, will stop that virus, especially physical distance, use of bandages, washing hands and avoiding being indoors in poorly ventilated and crowded rooms.
