In the nineties, all of Flanders lisped like Kamiel Spiessens. Good news for those who want to do it again: the character of Chris Van den Durpel (61) will soon make a comeback.

In retrospect, several things were crazy about the nineties, but Spiessens’ ubiquity deserves a separate mention. The somewhat unsavory, graying gardener with speech impediments not only dominated television.
