There is still no risk of collapse at the Los Arcos Hospital due to COVID-19 cases | Radio Cartagena

The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo has appealed to the population to take extreme measures in the face of the complicated situation in the municipality due to the significant increase in infections that have been occurring during the last two weeks.

José Miguel Luengo recalled that with 9 positives in the last 24 hours, cases continue to grow day after day in the municipality, which stands at 206 cases thanks to the 40 discharges that were given this October 26, to cured patients.

The mayor pointed out that “although fortunately there is still no risk of collapse in the Los Arcos Hospital, it is time to insist on the maximum responsibility to be able to reverse the contagion curve among all and avoid worse consequences.”

Regarding the capacity of the Hospital de Los Arcos to continue assuming this second wave of the virus, José Miguel Luengo explained that this health center currently has two units specialized in COVID with 57 beds, of which thirty are occupied. To these units are added two others that were prepared and that they are going to start operating with another 57 beds, so that you can help even to other more saturated health areas.

The manager of Area VIII Mar Menor, Tomás Fernández reported during the meeting that the Los Arcos Hospital will continue to maintain the scheduled surgical activity unchanged although the consultation activity, which until now has not been affected, will be subject to review due to the overload of some of the specialties.

José Miguel Luengo reiterated his message of “maximum responsibility” and pointed out the greater incidence that this second wave is having in the municipality and in the region as shown by the figure of 14 deaths since the beginning of the de-escalation that doubles the 7 deaths during the first wave, according to Tomás Fernández to the mayors of the region.
