Depok (Pemkot) city government plans to relocate SDN Pondok China (Pocin) 1 and build a mosque on the former school grounds. Local population SDN Pocin 1 worried about the fate of the students.
A resident named Maman (45) has heard of plans to build a mosque on the land where Pocin SDN currently stands. He did not contest the Depok city government’s plan to build a mosque, but he also highlighted the rejection by parents of students who did not want their children to be transferred to another school.
“In my opinion, it is legal (to build a mosque). But what I heard many parents of SD Pocin 1 students complained because the children were relocated, so they were sent to other schools,” Maman said when she told him. met on site, Friday (2/12/2022).
Maman judged that educational issues should be prioritized. You said that many mosques were around SDN Pocin 1.
“In my opinion, because education is more important and the primary school (guardians) complain a lot here, so maybe it’s better to go to education first, unless there is already a new building,” he said.

“There are actually a lot of mosques out back,” Maman added.
He said there were pros and cons regarding the plan to build a mosque to replace the SDN Pocin 1 building. However, residents also felt that the ground area of the Pocin 1 primary school was not large enough to be utilized like a big mosque.
“Not many residents responded, at first many agreed, some disagreed, a lot. As there may be evictions, there must be a large area, if the big mosque only has so much land for a big mosque, it seems impossible “said Mom.
Another resident named Warsono (50) looks at it from a historical perspective. Lui said that SDN Pocin 1 is closely related to community memory.
“This elementary school has always existed, the mayor was not born yet, this is an elementary school. The first elementary school in Depok, there was an elder who was 95 years old when he was in elementary school here but there were only 3 classes before said the elder here,” Warsono said.
Warsono did not refuse to build a mosque on the land of the former Pocin 1 Primary School. However, he demanded that the fate of the Pocin 1 Primary School students be taken into consideration by building a new school.
“Do you want to build a mosque, it is up to the government. What is certain is this, the name of this human right. Animals are willing moved must prepared first cage it is so, it is so. Hopefully the government to think-After all, this is the fate of humanity,” he explained.
The same was reported by another resident named Rizky (26). He hoped that there would be a new school building for the SDN Pocin 1 students affected by the relocation.
“It depends on the government, the important thing is to do a building first, not put it in this school, this school,” Rizky said.
He said the area around SDN Pocin 1 has many mosques. “Here there is no shortage of mosques, in every alley there is a prayer room, in every alley there is,” she added.
