“There is no place for Hamas.” Biden demands the unification of Gaza and the West Bank under PA rule

US President Joe Biden said that he is working for a Middle East that has no place for Hamas, and called for the unification of the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank under the rule of the Palestinian Authority.

This came in an article written by the president to an American in the Washington Post on Saturday, while Israel continues its war on Gaza for the 44th day, which led to the death of more than 12 thousand martyrs, the destruction of the health sector and various vital facilities, and the displacement and starvation of the entire population.

Biden wrote in his article that the Palestinian Authority must ultimately govern the Gaza Strip and the West Bank after “the war between Israel and Hamas.”

“As we strive for peace, Gaza and the West Bank must be reunited under a single governance structure, and ultimately under a renewed Palestinian Authority, as we all work toward a two-state solution,” he said.

He stressed that “the United States will not back down from challenging Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Hamas movement, because they are fighting to erase a neighboring democracy.”

He stressed the importance of “breaking the cycle of violence and building something stronger in Gaza and throughout the Middle East so that history does not repeat itself.”

He said, “The Palestinians deserve to have their own state and to have a future in which there is no Hamas.”

The article stated, “There must be no forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, no reoccupation, no siege, and no reduction of territory.” Pointing out that the loss of life in Gaza tears apart families and society.

In his article, Biden tried to answer the question of what the United States wants for Gaza once the war ends.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel must maintain its “comprehensive military responsibility” for Gaza “for the foreseeable future.” While Washington believes that Israel cannot reoccupy the Gaza Strip.

In a related matter, Biden condemned settler violence in the West Bank against Palestinians.

Biden said that the United States is ready to issue a visa ban on Israeli extremists who attack civilians in the West Bank.

He added, “I stressed to Israel’s leaders the need to stop extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and hold perpetrators of violence accountable.”
