“The gradual departure from traditional combustion vehicles in favor of electric cars means that the industry must adapt its offer, and therefore its production method, to new requirements. This causes a growing demand for employees with specific, often completely new competences,” says Anna Wesołowska, managing director at Gi Group Poland.
The industry especially needs employees with competences in technical, engineering and digital areas. And there is a great lack of such.
“The staff shortage is caused primarily by insufficient interest in vocational and technical education and low mobility. The aging of the population and the still high emigration of Poles do not help. It is also worth pointing out the low professional attractiveness and insufficient use of the industry’s potential as an interesting place of employment,” adds Agnieszka Szpoton from the Lewiatan Confederation.
As the study shows, creating cars of the future requires, above all, highly qualified intellectual workers. In Poland, the most frequently sought-after candidates are: automotive engineer (36 percent of responses), car designer (34 percent) and financial analyst and customer cooperation expert (33 percent each).
