TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) denied there was a link between the Covid-19 vaccination and acute hepatitis in children whose cause was unknown.
This was conveyed by the Lead Scientist for the case of Acute Hepatitis. Hanifah Oswari responded to the news about three pediatric patients being treated at Dr. Hospital. Ciptomangunkusumo Jakarta died allegedly due to contracting a mysterious acute hepatitis.
According to him, Covid-19 has not been proven to have a bad impact on children.
“This incident is connected to Covid-19 vaccine That is not true.”
“Because of the current incident, there is no evidence that it is related to the Covid-19 vaccination,” said Hanifah as quoted from Kompas.com, Thursday (5/5/2022).
Hanifah believes that this incident is a coincidental condition.
However, this statement does not reduce the government’s efforts to carry out deepening and prevention related to this disease.
Hanifah continued, as an effort to increase awareness, prevention and control of acute hepatitis infections in children, the government has implemented several things.
Among other things, by issuing Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/C/2515/2022 regarding vigilance against case finding acute hepatitis of unknown etiology (acute hepatitis of unknown aetiology).
The Ministry of Health has also appointed the Prof Dr. Infectious Disease Hospital. Sulianti Saroso and the UI Faculty of Medicine Laboratory as a reference laboratory for specimen examination.
