Indonesian Council of Ulama (MULTI-FUNCTION) highlights the existence of a mosque in DKI Jakarta who held Friday prayers in congregation when Emergency PPKM. MUI questioned whether the mosques guarantee that all congregations who come are healthy or free from COVID-19.
“For the time being, crowds are avoided because this mosque cannot be confirmed that all those who join the congregation are healthy, that’s what needs to be considered. Unless, for example, these mosques can ensure that only healthy people are in the congregation, then it won’t be a problem. there is no guarantee,” said MUI Deputy Secretary General M Ziyad to reporters, Friday (9/7/2021).
Ziyad said that so far there were no mosques that provided Covid-19-free test kits for pilgrims who came. Therefore, MUI requests that mosques in the red zone follow the rules Emergency PPKM.
“That’s why the MUI gave an appeal for this period, unless there was a mosque that made it possible that the congregation was confirmed to be only healthy people, it could be tolerated. That too must pay attention to health protocols, distance, duration of time, so that there are no crowds and so on. But is all that guaranteed?,” he said.
Then Ziyad mentioned the implementation of congregational prayers in the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW when there was heavy rain. At that time, he said, the Prophet who did not want the implementation of congregational prayers to cause harm to the congregation asked for worship to be performed in their respective homes.
“This means that there is no obligation or sunnah muakad precisely for congregational prayers to go to the mosque, but in their respective homes. Even though it is not an epidemic, especially in the current epidemic conditions, the spread is extremely massive and high,” he said.
“That’s why avoiding harm comes before taking advantage. After all, this is temporary and not permanent,” he added.
