“There is no football without government” – – 2024-03-13 22:33:23

Diogo Gama, sports director of the Salvadoran Football Federation (Fesfut), was the special guest at the All-Star Game of the National Football League (LNF), organized by the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES).

The Fesfut national team manager also arrived to observe some players who are being monitored and who could possibly be called to join national pre-selections.

Gama stated that as sports director it is his obligation to be present at these events, since they are relevant to the work that the federation is doing in the search for possible prospects.

“It is important for us to be present in the country’s soccer activities and being in an event like this All-Star Game, in which you can see a selection of the most outstanding players of the National Soccer League, is part of our work to recruit the best. From the federation, the perspective of seeing the future is important, coming to see them play is relevant, and we have already been seeing some players from this league for some time now,” said Gama.

The leader confirmed that the development of this sport will not be possible if one is working individually, by not accepting the support that a government institution such as INDES can provide.

“Important steps are being taken towards the future. Hand in hand with INDES and the federation is how football will move forward, since it must be recognized that there is no football without a government. That is why I am here, to continue monitoring some players,” Diogo clarified.

Gama applauded the good work that INDES is doing with the creation of the National Soccer League by promoting players in the U-20 category.

“There is no other way to make football grow, it is this way, with the people who work for the development of this sport as INDES is doing with the creation of the National League,” commented the Fesfut sports director.

Likewise, he talked about why the creation of competitions such as the National Football League benefits Fesfut’s recruiting work.

“The national teams need the best players and those do not necessarily have to be in the professional leagues. The National League is a good option for monitoring and if the league organized by INDES has them, we will look for them,” said Gama.

When asked if he knows about the LaLiga, Values and Opportunity Program that INDES runs together with the LaLiga Foundation of Spain, the Portuguese expressed how important it is to take advantage of this type of platforms to improve football from the youth bases.

“I am a great defender of the development of this sport through the little ones, at those ages is where we learn the basics and have a project like LaLiga, Values and Opportunities, which is very well structured and is based on their knowledge, that is very good, that is what is needed,” Diogo assured.
