There is no end to the increase in the price of butter – News

The price of butter has been increasing since March this year, when one kilogram cost 202.45 crowns. Compared to current prices, it was about a third cheaper.

Data from the field is collected only once a month, usually in the second week. Therefore, the CZSO does not include these prices in the calculation of the total monthly consumer prices. However, the September inflation data also confirmed that the price of butter rose significantly compared to last year, especially by 43 percent to CZK 56.50 per 250 grams.

In contrast, a liter of semi-skimmed milk remained at around 24 to 25 crowns until September, now according to the CZSO it costs 25.54 crowns, which represents a month-on-month increase month of 1.79 percent. Despite that, milk is cheaper than last year, when it cost 25.65 crowns.

For the first time this year, a kilo of edamu is costing more than 200 crowns. Compared to September, this represents an increase of 11.51 percent and against last year with 14.37 percent. The price of a package of ten eggs rose to more than 49 crowns in October, and in September the egg cost 42.14 crowns, and last year to 48.37 crowns.

In total, seven of the 13 items examined rose in price month on month in October. Roast pork also costs 3.39 percent more, and the price of plain wheat flour and table apples rose slightly. On the other hand, consumer potatoes are much cheaper – more than a quarter – compared to September, and sugar is also almost 13 percent. The price of both items also fell compared to last year, for potatoes by 31.67 percent and for sugar by 28.45 percent.

At the beginning of this year, food was reclassified to a lower VAT rate – 12 percent. On the other hand, most drinks have moved to the basic rate of VAT – 21 percent.
